Barbara Platte founded the TRAITS Paris label in 1994. Her scarf collections – exclusively manufactured for her in the south of France – appear twice yearly. What distinguishes her creations and lends them their striking individuality is the feel of the finely structured fabrics, her playful approach to colours and the graphic subtlety of her designs. She gathers inspiration for her collections while travelling in northern Europe – and in the Paris world of fashion, translating her ideas at her studio in the city’s 14th arrondissement. .

Barbara Platte studied textile design at Hamburg’s Fachhochschule für Gestaltung and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She has created fabrics, scarves and accessories for the haute couture ateliers of Lapidus, Gianni Versace, Hermès, Helmut Lang and Jil Sander.
